Get your Summer Body in Shape with our Leisure Club offer!

So, you know about frequent flyer points, membership privileges, club card points and other ‘reward’ and incentive programmes, but here at the Kingsmills we like to offer something special and out of the ordinary to our customers. You don’t have to be a frequent stayer, but if you are, then you will definitely benefit from it! We want to offer you the chance to join our leisure club for just £99 per person when you join in May or June of 2014. That probably seems too good to be true, but believe us, it’s true!

Opening Hours and Facilities

Our leisure club is open from 6 in the morning to 10 at night on Monday to Friday and 7 in the morning until 10 at night on Weekends, so you can get the full beneficial use of every facility, including the swimming pool. You can enjoy a relaxing time in our sauna, and we have a steam room, offering complimentary towels. How about an ‘aquacise’ class, where you can exercise in water and get fit while you float. Once you have finished in the pool you can experience some personal training with our tailored fitness programmes just for you.

2013 Inverness Film Festival

For the last ten years, Inverness has welcomed all film makers and film lovers to experience the wonder of film in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Each year, the festival seeks to balance the work of great film makers and up-and-coming film makers whilst adopting an innovative theme to run through the festival. To mark the 10th anniversary of the event last year, the Inverness Film Festival took a trip through the history of cinema and focussed on how cinema had changed over the last 120 years.  This year, however, the event is adopting a polar opposite theme with all eyes to be transfixed on modern day films. Interestingly, new Middle Eastern cinema is to be given special recognition in Inverness this year. The 2013 festival will run from Wednesday the 6th of November until Sunday the 10th at Eden Court and promises to be a most exciting event for any film enthusiast!

If this sounds like the kind of film festival you’d like to be a part of then why not check out the schedule and start planning your trip to the Scottish Highlands today. With such an impressive array of films to be enjoyed, why not extend your trip to Inverness to a couple of days, escape reality and get lost in the world of film. If that sounds like your perfect winter break then look no further. At Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness, we have a wealth of accommodation available to make sure your stay in the Highlands even more enjoyable. We have spacious suites suitable for families with separate rooms for the children and classic or deluxe rooms as well as luxurious retreat or cocoon rooms should you wish. Set within 4 acres of the beautiful Scottish countryside yet only 1 mile from the centre, our luxury four star hotel in Inverness has all the ingredients for a perfect stay in Scotland: easily accessible, peaceful and picturesque. After a day or evening of movie magic, continue the magic at our luxury highland hotel with a country walk around the grounds, a trip to the luxurious Kingsmills spa or a meal in one of our two onsite restaurants.

With the 2013 festival predicted to be a memorable, exciting and successful event, avoid any disappointment and book your trip with Kingsmills Inverness as soon as possible. Here at the hotel in the Scottish Highlands, we can’t wait for the film festival to begin.

Hold Your Baby Shower at The Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness

Baby Showers – Traditionally, this was a time for the women in the family to gather and pass on their pearls of wisdom (or should that be perils of wisdom) about parenting.  Such as; if you are craving ice cream you are having a girl!  Or if you stand your baby on your lap to bounce them, they will be born bow-legged!  Or one of the more terrifying titbits; if you look at a mouse whilst pregnant your baby will have an unsightly birthmark.

Fortunately some traditions have been de-bunked and updated!  And the baby shower is a great example of one that needed to be!

Perhaps “mother-to-be-shower” may be a more appropriate term than “Baby shower” as it is the new mother who will be showered with gifts on this special day with friends and family!  With everyone gathered to pamper the new mother before a little person comes along to pop her into permanent second place!

mother and baby

It is a time for celebration and gift giving, and its popularity is growing a-pace with many showers being themed and the room decorated.  We have even seen a 3 tier nappy cake!

The Kingsmills Hotel has a lovely Baby Shower package to help with the preparations:

  • Afternoon tea, including a selection of finger sandwiches, scones, cakes, tea and coffee
  • Jugs of fruit juice
  • Reserved area in the Lounge or in one of our private rooms
  •  Complimentary spa treatment for the mum-to-be

This package only costs £8.50 per person and you can upgrade to include a glass of bubbly on arrival. For more information on this amazing package you can click here. OrtTo book simply call the Events Team on 01463 257102 or email  events@kingsmillshotel.com

The Show Must Go On!

Working in an environment that is based around an ethos of outstanding service, providing world class guest experiences and going the extra mile means that The Kingsmills Hotel staff sometimes have to get creative…

That creativity can be about developing a really fun (albeit slightly off the wall!) Girls Slumber Party Package and other innovative special offers, or creating a truly indulgent spa experience.  Have a look at our spa treatment menu here if you’re in the mood for some pampering! Recently, however we took the concept of creativity quite literally to help one of our guests out of a potentially sticky spot…

The Kingsmills Hotel recently hosted a group of actors who were filming a period drama at a nearby stately home, and it was great for staff and guests to see the colourful characters around the hotel.  One of the actors was understandably alarmed to realise that she had arranged to have her costume laundered, unaware that the laundry would be closed on the Sunday – the day of filming!

Thankfully our Operations Manager, Sandra, understands fully two important concepts which are ingrained in each and every staff member here at The Kingsmills Hotel:

  1. Always go above and beyond to create a great guest experience, and
  2. The Show must go on!

Kingsmills hotel, hotels in Scotland, excellent customer service

Recognising the guest’s alarm, our Operations Manager asked ‘What does your costume look like?’  Thankfully this particular guest wasn’t playing aristocracy and didn’t require puffy sleeves in opulent fabrics or elaborate bodices adorned with jewels!  Grateful to learn that the actress’ character came from the other end of the social hierarchy, and needed only a long black skirt with black cape and cream coloured ruffled collar, Sandra set to work to make a replacement.  It’s amazing what banqueting covers and a ‘can do’ attitude can create! So, with Sandra’s help, the cast pulled off an amazing performance, the show, indeed, did go on as planned.

A Royal Guest: Kingsmills Hotel Welcomes Princess Megan

The staff at Kingsmills Hotel are delighted to play host to the beautiful and inspirational Megan Gillon on a regular basis. We always love having Megan to stay at our hotel in Inverness, and were touched by the beautiful message we received from her mother, Kirsty Gillon, after her most recent stay with us:

Kingsmills Hotel guest, accommodation in Inverness, Kingsclub balcony, golf in scotland, luxury accommodation scotland

Kingsmills Hotel is delighted to count the beautiful Megan Gillon amongst one of our regular guests. Megan: you are a wee soldier!

Hi, my daughter and I stay with you regularly (as she visits Raigmore Hospital a lot!). When we stayed last time (10th April for 2 nights) you kindly gave us a complimentary upgrade to the Kingsclub and a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the golf course. We just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff because they treated Megan like a princess! She’s in a wheelchair and has a few confidence issues but you made her usual hospital visit into a real treat! She has not smiled that much in a while and I can’t thank the Kingsclub and Leisure centre staff enough for making her feel like royalty. The dining room staff were just as wonderful in dealing with her food allergies! You really made a difference to my wee angel! We’re coming back to stay at the Kingsmills on Sunday 12th for a night as we have Raigmore again on Monday and she’s really looking forward to it. Thank you again!!

We are thrilled that Megan enjoyed her complimentary upgrade to Kingsclub, and appreciated the lovely balcony views over our neighbouring Scottish golf course. Our restaurant staff have a real family dining ethos, catering to all palates and dietary requirements with a fine selection of Scottish cuisine, and I am so pleased that Megan enjoyed eating in our hotel restaurant too.

It was a pleasure welcoming you back again last night Princess Megan, and we hope to see you again soon for some more royal treatment!
